Crim 12

Homicide in Canada, 2010

Homicide in Canada is a relatively rare event. In 2010, there were 554 homicides in Canada.

I found this topic interesting because, they say that at least 56 fewer homicides accurred in 2010 than 2009. They also say that the overall drop in gomicides was driven largely by fewer homicides in the western part of the country, primarily in British Columbia. With fewer homicides in 2010 than 2009, the rate in British Columbia (1.83) fell 31% and reaches its lowest point since the mid- 1960's.

Violent crimes that come out of movies

Violent crimes that come out of movies

1)      Name: Eric Harris & Dylan Klebold

2)      Crime: school shooting

3)      Sentence: killed themselves

4)      Evidence presented to convict: Harris in April 1998 kept journals, then they began to form plans, they would spot out to find good hiding spots in the school, they knew when the bells would ring, when classes would switch, and they also knew where the most kids would be at one time in a certain area. And they also had guns.

5)      What was the defense à how was media blamed: They had their own club “Trench coat Mofia”. They worshiped Hitler and the attack happened on Hitler’s birthday. They also dressed as if they were in the movie “The Matrix”

6)      Your opinion: Eric and Dylan “worshipped” Hitler. They knew everything there was to know about him, and hated what he hated. They didn’t just snap one day because they planned it all in their heads, and on paper. They entered the school dressed as if they were characters in “The Mofia”. They didn’t have just small little guns, but they had the big ones that are usually used in movies. But I don’t think that the movie industry should be blamed for the stupidity of others, when they make the movies they don’t know that people are going to go out killing people, and turning crazy. But at least these boys are no longer in the picture after what they did.
